STRATEGY
The first zero CO2 emission factory in the tire industry
Nokian Tyres started the construction of its new passenger car tire factory in Romania in spring 2023. The first tires are estimated to be produced in the second half of 2024. Commercial tire production starts in 2025. The factory will be the first zero CO2 emission factory in the industry.
"This investment is a significant strategic decision enabling our future growth. A world-class manufacturing facility in Europe is a key step in getting additional capacity and creating a balanced manufacturing platform,” says Jukka Moisio, President and CEO of Nokian Tyres."
The annual capacity of the factory will be 6 million tires with an expansion potential in the future. The total investment is estimated to be approximately EUR 650 million, which is among the most valuable investments in Romania in the recent years.
Nokian Tyres is investing in profitable growth with the aim of achieving EUR 2 billion in net sales while committing to delivering sustainable shareholder value.
